Commissioning New Satellites
The West Virginia Institute for Spirituality (WVIS) commissions two new Satellite locations at a ceremony on Thursday, October 14th. Those commissioned during this ceremony hold the title, Associate Director of Programming and may offer at their location (or via Zoom) any of the retreats, lectures, workshops, etc. that are typical of those offered at the WVIS Retreat House.
The new Associate Directors of Programming are:
Sr. Barbara Goodridge, OSF – Charleston, WV (Recovery Community)
Rev. Meredith Hutchison – Greensburg and Murrysville, PA

Graduation – Sr. Cheryl Clemons, OSU and Sally Orcutt, OP
Congratulations to Sr. Cheryl Clemons, OSU and Sally Orcutt, OP, WVIS’ newest Associate Spiritual Director graduates. Their graduation ceremony was held on Friday, September 17th.

Graduation – Donna Becher
Congratulations to Donna Becher, WVIS’ newest Associate Spiritual Director graduate. Donna’s graduation ceremony was held on Saturday, November 21st.
Sr. Mary Pellicane Celebrates Alabaster Anniversary
On March 25, 2021, Sr. Mary Pellicane will celebrate her Alabaster Anniversary (75th) as a Religious of the Retreat in the Cenacle. Sr. Pellicane entered religious life as a “Cenacle Sister” when she was 24 in Ronkonkoma, NY.
As a ‘Cenacle Sister’, she taught in New York for one summer, drew cartoons depicting the life of Christ which were later published, guided aspiring young religious in the novitiate and postulancy, and most importantly provided spiritual direction in Massachusetts, New York, New Zealand, and Pennsylvania before accepting a call in 1977 to found the Cenacle Retreat House in Charleston, WV.
In both Pennsylvania and West Virginia, Sister Pellicane was responsible for providing the first 11-step retreats. Sister Pellicane provided leadership to the Charleston Cenacle for over a quarter of a century before moving to WVIS where she continues to serve as WVIS Executive Consultant.
