Spiritual Direction Certification

Who is a Spiritual Director? A Spiritual Director is a person who is/has:

* Open to the presence of Divine Mystery in their graced history and the particulars of their daily life.

* A listening ear and a compassionate heart.

* Rooted in a community of faith that nurtures, challenges, and shapes their personal faith.

* Gradually growing toward knowledge and acceptance of their limits as well as their unique gifts and talents.

The Associate Spiritual Direction Training Program at WVIS adheres to the core principles of Spiritual Directors International (SDI). All program assignments, which become part of the portfolio documenting your participation in this program, demonstrate these principles.

As part of your participation in the WVIS Associate Spiritual Direction Training Program you will receive both the theory and the opportunity to offer individual and group spiritual direction as well as Ignatian Directed Retreats. All of these activities are under the supervision of a member of WVIS staff who will walk with you throughout your journey and be available to guide and assist you.
