What is Taizé Prayer?
Taizé prayer is a simple, meditative form of worship, calling us to dwell deeply on Christ’s presence around and within us. Mantra songs, prayerful silence, and short readings guide the focus of the prayer in a candle-lit environment.
The short songs or chants, repeated over and over that are part of Taizé prayer, create a meditative environment and express basic realities of faith that can be easily grasped by the mind and the heart. The result is to gradually move prayer from the head to the heart.
If you live in the Charleston, West Virginia area, you are invited to participate in a Taizé Prayer experience this Sunday, March 3rd.
